Good news.I found it!  In recipes calling for non sequiturs, a mixture of equal amounts of mixed metaphors and dangling infinitives may be substituted.

aliquid haeret at spes non fracta

What is it that you need again?

I think food, air, water, and shelter about covers it as far as genuine needs go.

I am somewhat particular about my food.  I don't know if a dumpster would provide for my tastes, if I had any other alternative.

Air is pretty much air to me.  I never buy bottled air from France.

I like my water to be clean and in two varieties, hot and cold, and the ability to mix the two to provide various degrees of warmth.

Shelter is a more difficult one to answer, and takes on the appearance of being the most important once the first three are taken for granted.  It's only when the first three are lacking that their importance eclipses the need for all but the most basic shelter.

First is protection from the elements and a source of heat when the weather is cold.  Some of the rest are subjective.  Some are luxuries.  Artificial lighting for when the weather is dark.  Shelter is a safe place.  A place where I can be me.  A place to spend idle time.  A place for privacy when that is all that's needed.  A place to sleep.  A place to have fun.  A place to enjoy the food air and water.  I'm sure there is a lot more to it, but it would take me more than ten minutes to think of them, and by then I'd probably erase what I've already written.

What is it then that you really need?  I mean as homo sapiens first, before lapsing into abstract terms that I might not understand.

I need to feel the winds of the universe!
Feel the depth of silence in my being
Express the joy of my true nature
